What is World Menopause Day?
Every year on 18th October, World Menopause Day is held by the International Menopause Society in collaboration with the World Health Organisation. Its purpose is to raise awareness of women’s health during menopause.
What the Day Means for Your Clinic
With millions of women in the UK going through menopause at any one time, it’s likely that a significant number of your client base is menopausal, post-menopause or perimenopausal.
How Menopause Affects the Skin
Oestrogen is a key ingredient in maintaining skin health. But during menopause (and perimenopause), oestrogen levels naturally decline. This reduction in oestrogen can cause dramatic changes to the skin – often over a short period of time.
During menopause women are likely to be experiencing many skin ageing symptoms, such as increased dryness, laxity, wrinkling and dullness. While many women may think these symptoms are just a sign of getting older, they can all be caused by the drop in oestrogen levels that occurs during menopause and perimenopause. In fact, low oestrogen levels cause greater collagen loss than chronological ageing.
These changes can all combine to severely impact women’s confidence during an already difficult time as they negotiate the challenges of menopause.
By marking World Menopause Day in your clinic, you create the perfect opportunity to talk to your clients about menopause and explain exactly how falling oestrogen levels impact the skin. You can then recommend treatments and products, like Emepelle, to help them regain confidence in their skin and appearance during menopause.
Host Your Own Menopause Awareness Event
You may be planning to host an event in your clinic to coincide with World Menopause Day. But of course, you can also hold your own menopause awareness event at any time.
Rebecca Walton, national business development manager for Emepelle explains: “I often encourage and help clinics to host their own menopause coffee mornings. It’s a great chance to bring clients together to learn more about menopause, share stories and discover exactly how menopause affects the skin.”
There’s plenty of marketing support from Emepelle for clinics who host an event, including a presentation, invitations and online promotional materials, to make the event a success.
Start A Conversation About Menopause
When you stock Emepelle, it becomes easier to talk confidently to your clients about the impact menopause has on the skin while offering a product they can easily incorporate into their daily routines. With a daytime serum and a rich night cream, the Emepelle range offers a great return on investment for your clinic.
Become an Emepelle stockist and we’ll provide marketing support with all the information you need to show your clients exactly how menopause affects the skin. By demonstrating your expertise, you’ll quickly become a trusted advisor for your clients as they approach and go through menopause.
