Biretix is designed to successfully manage all four key components involved in the development of spots, to reduce spot-causing bacteria, renew and remove dead skin cells, regulate sebum production, and reduce inflammation, all whilst maintaining excellent skin tolerance.

What is acne and what causes it?

The four main contributors to the development of spots include the buildup of sebum, bacteria (predominantly P.Acne bacteria), and dead skin cells which block the pores on the skin resulting in inflammation. There are various types of spots including blackheads and whiteheads, and more severe forms which occur as a result of inflammation such as pustules, papules and nodules.

The Biretix range is designed to specifically manage all four key components involved in the development of spots, to reduce spot-causing bacteria, renew and remove dead skin cells, regulate sebum production, and reduce inflammation, all whilst maintaining excellent skin tolerance.

Choosing the best treatment for acne

Suffering from acne can be a challenge in itself, but choosing the right treatment for your clients and their skin can help them to feel more confident. The best and first step to take will be to assess the severity of your clients acne. As mentioned above, there are several grades of acne, from mild to severe, and there are also different types of spots that develop with acne. Assessing all of this will help you to understand your clients acne and research the best ways to treat it.

The best at-home skin care regime for acne prone skin

Treating acne is just one step in skincare. Looking after the skin at its base is just important in healing the skin and helping to ensure that the acne does not return once it has been treated. Luckily, having a good at-home skin care routine is simple to put together and stick to, and also works alongside any acne treatments.

1. Cleansing –  For oily and spot-prone skin, dermatologists recommend that the cleanser should be anti-microbial, fragrance free and non-comedogenic. The Biretix cleanser is just that. It provides deep skin cleansing in a gentle formulation to control oil and reduce spot-causing bacteria whilst soothing the skin and reducing redness.

2. Spot Treatments – Use a clarifying skincare product that aims to directly target spots to clarify the skin and boost skin health. The Biretix Tri-Active Anti-blemish Gel, the Hero product of the Biretix range, is a potent gel formulation is clinically proven to significantly reduce blemishes in 30 days, with its clarifying, anti-microbial, and oil-regulating properties due to its unique formulation of RetinSphere Technology, BIOPEP-15, Glycolic Acid, Salicylic Acid and Niacinamide. Biretix Tri-Active Gel can be used one to two times daily depending on the sensitivity of your clients skin. For particularly sensitive skin, we recommend substituting the tri-Active Gel with the Biretix Duo Gel.

3. Moisturise – This step is often avoided for those with oily and spot-prone skin, however it is a vital step in restoring and protecting the skin’s barrier, which can often be compromised as a result of some acne treatments. The Biretix Hydramat is a triple effect moisturiser that provides instant and long-lasting hydration for up to 72 hours, whilst regulating oil production, mattifying the skin, and reducing and preventing the formation of dark spots and pigmentation.

4. SPF – Any skincare regime should be completed with a broad spectrum SPF to protect the skin from the harmful effects of daylight. For oily and spot-prone skin, we recommend the Heliocare Gel Oil-Free SPF, also from Cantabria Labs. This light-weight SPF offers a high level, broad-spectrum sun protection and has been specifically designed for oily and spot prone skin. It also helps to further reduce oiliness and has a mattifying finish that doesn’t clog pores.

Where Biretix can help

From the international dermatology company, Cantabria Labs, Biretix features innovative technologies and active ingredients in unique formulations, to offer a holistic skincare solution for your clients with its three product categories: Purify, Treat, and Care.

Purify

This step contains purifying and oil-regulating solutions to enhance and maintain skin health.

It includes the Biretix cleanser, the Biretix mask, and the Biretix Micropeel. These products help purify the skin to eliminate impurities and dead skin cells for optimal results and absorption of any treatment products. This step is suitable for all stages of acne treatment and helps to maintain and enhance overall skin health.

Treat

This step contains clarifying solutions to rapidly reduce blemishes and imperfections. The Biretix treatment products are anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory and oil regulating to rapidly clarify the skin, reducing imperfections, redness and shine, without irritation. It includes the Biretix Tri-Active Gel, the hero product of the Biretix range, the Duo Gel for use as a maintenance treatment or on particularly sensitive skin, and the Tri-Active Spray, for targeting spots on the body.

Care

This step contains hydrating solutions to restore and protect the skin’s barrier and includes the Biretix Hydramat. The Biretix Hydramat fluid is an ultra light, fast-absorbing moisturiser suitable for daily use on oily and spot-prone skin. This triple effect moisturiser is clinically proven to provide hydration for up to 72 hours, whilst regulating oil production and preventing and reducing dark spots and pigmentation.

Of course, no skincare regime is complete without SPF.

How to treat spot-prone skin which is sensitive

Treating acne on sensitive skin can be trickier than most skin types due to reactions to products, inflammation, redness, etc. With clinically proven efficacy and high tolerability, Biretix products are great for sensitive skin. Here’s a guide to help you use the Biretix pillars of  purify, treat and care, to treat your clients with more sensitive skin.

Purify

The Biretix cleaner is a gentle formula which cleanses the skin without causing irritation, redness, or drying the skin out. This is great for spot-prone, sensitive skin. The Biretix mask and micropeel should be introduced slowly into the regime. The usual schedule to use these is once or twice weekly, however with sensitive skin we would recommend using it once a week and building up to twice if the skin can take it.

Treat

With the Biretix treatment stage we recommend starting on the Biretix Duo Gel for sensitive skin. This treatment gel contains advanced retinoid and anti-microbial technology – RetinSphere and BIOPEP-15 – alongside Salicylic Acid and Vitamin E to gently clarify the skin. Once the clients skin has become accustomed to the Duo Gel gel, you could then move them onto the Biretix Tri-Active Gel, a more potent formula containing Glycolic Acid, Niacinamide and a higher dosage of Salicylic Acid.

Care

The Biretix Hydramat Fluid is specifically desgigned for oily and spot-prone skin. This triple effect moisturiser is clinically proven to provide hydration for up to 72 hours, whilst regulating oil production, mattifying the skin, and preventing and reducing dark spots and pigmentation.

With sensitive skin it is important to make sure the client is not skipping this step as it will help to protect and restore the skin’s barrier, as well as enhance the performance of other skincare products.

Of course, no skincare regime is complete without SPF. Sun damage can affect the skin’s surface and make it more liable to sensitivities. Using a high SPF will help to protect the skin and reduce further damages and sensitivities.

What is spot-prone skin and how do you treat it?

Spot-prone skin is skin which is liable to breakouts. This could be anything from a few blackheads and white heads which occur regularly, to a full flare up of acne. Each person’s skin type is different and this will affect the regularity of spots and how to treat them.

The four main contributors to the development of spots include the buildup of sebum, bacteria (predominantly P.Acne bacteria), and dead skin cells which block the pores on the skin resulting in inflammation. There are various types of spots including blackheads and whiteheads, and more severe forms which occur as a result of inflammation such as pustules, papules and nodules and treatment depends on various factors such as the type and number of spot lesions.

Efficacy and tolerability of acne treatments

There is a long history of acne treatments and the effectiveness in treating acne. A lot of treatments do clear up the acne, but can also damage the skin, leaving it brittle and dry. This can then result in a low tolerability, meaning that the skin is liable to relapse. To treat the acne effectively you also need to care for, and protect the skin. This is where you need to find a skincare range which has a high efficacy and a high tolerability.

Finding a skin care range with a high efficacy and high tolerability is key to a successful treatment approach. Efficacy is how well the product improves the symptoms of the skin condition it claims to treat, meanwhile tolerability is how well the product works on the skin without causing adverse side effects such as irritation and dryness. This fine balance also determines how long a treatment will work without triggering a relapse.
